I’ve been MIA on this blog all year. This year, while not yet over, has been a really big growth year for me. I moved out of my parent’s house for the first time and moved in with my boyfriend. I dedicated my time to making our place a home, spending quality time together, and creating a life of family dinners, late night trivia, and tons of Bobs Burger and Catfish. I’ve learned a lot about myself, like the fact that I hate washing dishes, but I love making our daily lunches. Hands down, it has been the best adventure I’ve embarked on yet.

Florence, Italy – August 2015

Alas, but just like anything else in life, a good relationship is built on balance. Spending my time at home is amazing, but every travel article I read, every city I see a picture of, every restaurant I read about calls my name. Luckily, I have the most understanding boyfriend. So when I say “See ya later alligator,” he never complains. Actually … I think he’s happy to get the place alone for a few days.

Now that I am almost 30 … okay, well not really, (but I will be 30 in 15 months and in the grand scheme of life, that is almost) I feel that I need to do something for myself. Growth doesn’t come from comfort zones and I need to make sure I am continously growing. My goal is to hit 30 new cities by my 30th birthday.

In the next 15 months I will be tracking exactly how I plan these trips, while staying on a budget, and dedicating the time and attention my relationship and home life deserve.

Many of these cities have been on my mind for quite some time, but a good amount came from the suggestions everyone shared on my Facebook post I made a while back looking for great USA recommendations! Only one of these cities is not in the USA, and while I’d really like to hit Paris too before 30, I need to be realistic with my goals.

Below are my #30by30:

  1. Burlington, VT
  2. Champlain, VT
  3. San Diego, CA
  4. New Orleans, LA
  5. Baton Rouge, LA
  6. Nashville, TN
  7. Block Island, RI
  8. Nantucket, MA
  9. Martha’s Vineyard, MA
  10. Woodstock, VT
  11. Edinburgh, Scotland
  12. Niagara Falls, NY
  13. Savannah, GA
  14. Charleston, SC
  15. Hershey Park, PA
  16. Norman, OK
  17. Joshua Tree National Park, CA
  18. Mystic, CT
  19. Antelope Canyon, AZ
  20. Portland, OR
  21. Bend, OR
  22. Mount Washington, NH
  23. Adirondacks, NY (Specifically Lake George and Ausable Chasm)
  24. Asheville, NC
  25. Williamsburg, VA
  26. Santa Fe, NM
  27. Minneapolis, MI
  28. White Sands National Monument, NM
  29. Lancaster, PA
  30. Pittsburgh, PA

Honorable mentions include, but are definitely not limited to: Hawaii, Yosemite National Park, Olympic National Park, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Zion National Park (and every other location possible).

While my goal is to make it to these cities and landmarks, I am not going to beat myself up if any of the plans change. Life gets in the way sometimes and that’s okay. I find lifes detours tend to take you on a trip better than you had expected.

What places do you hope to see in the next 15 months?
